The Perfect Gingham Dress

I am 33 weeks pregnant today! I can’t believe how this pregnancy is flying. Honestly, if it weren’t for this little one kicking around so much, I wouldn’t believe it myself 🙂 Seven {or less!} weeks left to go….and the bump is growing more and more everyday. It’s been such a wonderful experience getting to see my body change in so many ways to grow this little human. I am seriously in awe that it knows what to do to nourish him and keep him safe. Doctor told me at my last appointment that he already weighs 4 lbs 6 oz! What a little miracle he is 🙂

With that being said, dressing the bump can be a challenge to say the least! As my little one grows, it has become harder and harder to stay ahead of the curve. Even my maternity t-shirts that used to fit so well in the second trimester are tight now. Enter in this dress. It’s actually non-maternity, but it fits an ever-expanding belly so well because of the elastic top! And y’all – let me just tell you. This dress is comfortable. I could seriously wear it all day. It isn’t restrictive at all and the little off the shoulder sleeves stay put {meaning I’m not having to tug them up or down all the time}.  If I had a waist, this would be so flattering for it too, so I know it will make a great postpartum dress as well. I’ve paired it here with my brand new Sam Edelman sandals and y’all let me just tell you why I’m so excited about these. It is ***impossible*** to find affordable wedges that do NOT have a platform on them!! At 5’10, I am not interested in a platform, so I am always on the hunt for a pair just like these and it has been years since I’ve been able to find a classic, elegant, well made and simple pair of plain black wedges. Why is it always the most simple items that are hardest to find?? Anyway, can you tell I’m excited about these?! They also come in two other beautiful shades {one nude, and one gold} and are so comfortable. They run true to size, so go with what you normally wear and thank me later! I promise you won’t regret these!

Seriously, impressed with the selection Nordstrom has ready for summer. There are literally hundreds of items I want right now like this gorgeous silky layered dress and this bump friendly {but also non maternity} bathing suit coverup. I also just splurged and bought these jelly sandals which I know I’ll wear ALL summer. I have the leather version and these are SO much more comfortable!!! The jelly feels molded to my feet. How To Clean Your Truffle Clarity Pouch

If you have a Truffle clarity case then you probably know this struggle. My Sio Beauty Chest Pad Review

After having seen the Sio Beauty anti-wrinkle pads on Instagram for months, I finally bit the bullet and ordered the chest pad about a month ago. Having been pretty flat-chested my entire life, I have recently noticed wrinkles forming in the décolletage area of my chest since becoming pregnant and wanted to do something about it. What is that saying? That your neck, chest and hands are more likely to give away your age than your face – and I think that is probably 100% true! We spend so much time and energy trying to make sure our faces look great that we neglect other areas on our body that often need help in the aging department too. I wanted to try and nip these wrinkles in the bud before the lines became deep and set in place for forever.

WHAT IT IS: A silicone pad that is worn overnight to prevent the formation of wrinkles. Doctors have previously recommended similar pads to be worn for the purpose of healing scars and burns. To quote Sio Beauty: “When medical grade silicone is placed on the skin, it creates a micro-climate between the skin and the silicone. This unique environment helps the skin heal itself as two things happen. First, moisture is drawn up from skin’s lower layers to the outside layers, allowing the skin to plump, fill in and smooth itself. Second, the production of collagen, the protein that holds the skin together, is activated and normalized. The result is the diminished appearance of wrinkles.”

MY REVIEW: Like I said, I had been wanting to try this chest pad for ages, but didn’t have a real need until recently when I started seeing lines forming after long nights of rest {I blame hormones and major pregnancy boobs! ;)} The instructions say to cleanse the skin thoroughly before applying, so I waited until right after I showered to use. It was super easy to apply and although it felt a little odd at first, I got used to it pretty quickly. I was a little worried how it would feel once I laid down on my side though – as I mentioned before, I’m pregnant so side sleeping is my only option! Honestly, it wasn’t that bad either. The silicone makes the pad pretty comfortable and I didn’t feel like it was peeling off or coming unstuck at all which was good. Waking up, I definitely noticed a difference – my skin was wrinkle free where there were normally lines.

Overall, I liked this product, and I would use again but probably only the night before a shoot, or a big event. Otherwise, it is $2 per wear, and you would need to spend $60 a month to be able to wear one every night and I just don’t think that it the best long-term solution. I think I will apply my serums and creams to my décolletée and hope that that works in between Sio pad uses!

Summer Statement Earrings

I love a big giant statement earring – especially in the summer when I often feel more adventurous and playful with colors and styles. Recently I’ve become obsessed with any and everything rainbow, so I knew I had to have these super fun fish earrings as soon as I saw them. They’re so bright and colorful and are perfect for summer. When getting dressed, I knew I wanted to wear something clean and simple to let them take center stage. With such a statement earring, sometimes it’s best not to have anything compete!

I also shared a few other statement earrings I recently got from Bauble Bar. The little crab earrings are so fun and remind me of my Louisiana roots! I think it would be so fun to wear these to a black tie event – imagine the reaction! Peoeple would expect something sophisticated and although these appear from afar to be fancy statement earrings, you get up close to realize they’re in the shape of a crab! It’s so fun. I can’t wait to wear them. The lemon drops were also too fun to pass up too. Arguably the most easily wearable of the bunch, this statement earring would look so pretty dressed up or down. I may wear them today with jeans and a t-shirt! Feels kind of perfect for Memorial Day, right?
