The Valentine’s Day Shop

When it comes to holidays I love, one centered around love itself has to be near the top. Red, pink, hearts, love – all the more reason to crush on this special holiday. Talk about a day that sparks joy! Whether you’re shopping to dress yourself, a gift for a galentine, or Valentine party prepping for your littles, I’ve rounded up all my favorite items to help you get in the spirit.

I love dressing for an occasion and Valentine’s Day is at the top of my list of favorite holidays. Whether your plans include a dinner date with your valentine or a get-together with the gals, February 14th, of course, calls for a festive ensemble. I’m majorly crushing on these Jimmy Choo velvet bow heels {currently 50% off!} and these hot pink Favorite Daughter jeans are already in my cart. In the accessories department, this little Amazon heart bag is the finishing touch to any V-Day outfit.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to show those around you how much they mean to you. From Weezie heart hand towels to a mini heart waffle maker there are so many cute heart-day-themed gifts sure to suit all the gift-receivers in your life. I think this scalloped table runner is *so* fun and festive and of course, these little heart wooden spoons I’m dying over. How cute would they be on your kitchen counter?!

Last but certainly not least, decor and party essentials. In our household, any holiday is a reason for festive decor. I just purchased this heart ribbon which I will 100% be wrapping any and all Valentine’s gifts in {and finishing off with these precious heart stickers}. I also love these themed cookie cutters which would be such a fun activity for kids. These pink and red scalloped linens *will* be making their way onto my Valentine’s table the next time I throw a party. They’re just so perfect!

The Essential Guide: What You Need to Start Skiing

Happy 2024 and Happy Ski Season to all who participate! I know many of you have vacations planned somewhere snowy in the upcoming months and I’ve started receiving DM’s asking, ‘How do I dress for skiing?!’ or ‘How do I dress my kids for skiing?!’ Although I’m not the most advanced skier, I still enjoy it and try to get on the slopes whenever we visit Colorado in the winter. It’s especially fun now that Henning is at the age where he can ski {and is starting to get the hang of it!} Of course, I also love a good ski outfit and have tried quite a few brands, so wanted to share my favs.

The general ski dressing rule-of-thumb is three layers on top: your thermals, a jacket and an added layer in-between for additional warmth such as a fleece pullover {depending on the temperature, I find this layer can be omitted}. On the bottom, two layers are typically sufficient: thermals and ski pants/bib. I also love the look of one-pieces but find that most are too short for my 5’10 frame 💔

Of course, accessories are necessary – proper ski socks, gloves, goggles, and a gaiter is always appreciated for added neck warmth. If renting skis/poles/boots, make sure to add in a helmet. My husband remembers when helmets used to be ‘uncool’ back in the 90s and early 2000s but really most everyone on the mountain wears them these days. I’ve heard more than one story how they’ve literally saved someones life, plus they keep your head warm! It’s a win-win.

My go-to’s when it comes to slope style are St. Bernard’s, Shopbop, Net-A-Porter, MyTheresa and Matches. For technical purposes, I think Obermeyer {I’m sure y’all have heard me rave about my holy grail tall-girl ski pants made by them}, North Face, and Bogner make the creme da la creme of skiwear. They get the job done at {mostly} reasonable prices and will be pieces you can carry with you to the snow for the years to come. For fashion-forward outerwear pieces, Cordova, Perfect Moment and Goldbergh are it right now. From Aspen to the Swiss Alps, you’ll see ladies skiing in eye-catching pieces from these brands.

  1. Skiwear: Dressing in layers is crucial to keep yourself warm and dry. Opt for moisture-wicking base layers, insulated ski pants, and a waterproof jacket. Don’t forget gloves or mittens, a helmet, and goggles to protect against the cold and snow.
  2. Skis, Boots, and Poles: You can rent or purchase depending on how often you plan on skiing.
  3. Safety Gear: A helmet is a non-negotiable safety item IMO!
