Where to Frame Hermes Scarves in Dallas

If you’re familiar with this story, and have been following me along on Instagram, you would know that I have a special collection of {and connection to} these beautiful Hermes Samurai scarves. Ever since I got a hold of my own set, I had known I wanted to frame a few for a big wall in our home, & I knew exactly what sort of frame I was looking for! I was looking for someplace that could frame my scarves in acrylic, but because the scarves were large {38 x 38} I knew that might be expensive. With that being said, I knew I couldn’t afford the $600-$800 price tag per frame that so many frame shops quoted me, so I called {what felt like!} hundreds of shops until I found two shops willing to do the job for under $325!! Their information & details are below:

Bill’s Plastics – 2107 Sylvan Ave, Dallas, TX 75208

I found Bill’s Plastics through the girls at the Barbier-Mueller Samurai Museum. Bill’s has been working in acrylic for over 40 years and is known in Dallas for making the acrylic boxes and stands for all the local museums {think DMA, Perot, & of course – the Samurai Museum!} Bill charged us $295* a frame and did an incredible job. He was professional, kind, and worked very quickly – my scarves were ready for pick up in less than 1 week!  The only downside is that his location is in a neighborhood I wouldn’t go to at night {if ya know what I mean} & there is no real storefront. BUT! Bill’s son himself said that 90% of the work they do is commercial, with clients like us only being a small part of their job so it makes sense to me that they wouldn’t really need a major storefront. *Note that I may have gotten this price from Bill due to the large number of scarves I was framing!

Decor Art & Frame – 5521 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75206

I was introduced to Decor Art & Frame by Taelor Fisher who said their work was professional, & affordable. I have loved working with them so much {and found them to be both wonderful to work with and affordable!} that I have already had them frame two more pieces for me in the last month. While I was in there last, I asked them {out of curiosity} what they would charge to frame an Hermes scarf in acrylic and without skipping a beat they quoted me $325 – this is without negotiating! I couldn’t believe it. This offer was hundreds of dollars cheaper than other shops! Some plus sides to working with DA&F is that they are very centrally located, they have a store front, and they have a quick turnaround.

As you can see above, I recently had my very own frames hung in my home and I couldn’t be happier with the turnout! If custom framing isn’t for you, this DIY from Etsy seems like a great option! That seller has tons of options too if your scarf or art piece is a different size than mine.

If you have any questions on my acrylics frames don’t hesitate to reach out! Hope y’all are having a great week xx

Top 5 Travel Accessories

I have travelled more in 2017 than I ever have in my entire life! And for those following along on my Instagram, you have been able to really be a part of that! The questions I get asked most often have to do with travel, and what certain accessories I carry when travelling, so I figured what better time to put up this post than from my hotel room in Paris! See below for my *must* have travel accessories!

Ostrich Pillow
We all know that sleeping on a plane can be difficult, but with it’s super soft jersey material, and bead-like interior, the Ostrich Pillow makes it so much easier.  This O shaped travel pillow lays on top of your eyes and ears, blocking out sound and light, and acts as a rest for the head. I first discovered it’s magic a few years ago when my {now} husband had a medical emergency when travelling. My {now} sister-in-law, Katelyn, had an Ostrich pillow with her and let me borrow it when it became clear I would have to spend the night at the hospital in a chair – It blocked out the beeping machines, the lights from other patients and made my awkward angles comfortable enough for me to get a few hours rest. Ever since that moment, I have sworn by this travel accessory, making it my #1 travel must-have.

Travel Steamer
How many times have we all run the water in the hotel shower on high heat to try and steam wrinkles out of our clothing? Not only did I feel guilty about the massive amount of water waste, but it was also never fully efficient – especially if the fabric was thicker and the wrinkles more stubborn. With my standing steamer at home, I have become so accustomed to removing wrinkles with ease that the sight of even a wrinkle in my t-shirt would irritate me. This travel steamer has made my travel wardrobe look so much more crispy 🙂

Away suitcase/Tile
Away reached out right before my honeymoon last year and asked to send me a set of their suitcases. I had never had a matching set of luggage before and was excited to give them a try – especially since the carry on suitcase comes with a built in charger! I have loved my experience with the suitcases so much, that I have convinced my entire family into buying their own sets. They fit surprisingly more than they look like they would, and the hard exterior shell is sleek and durable. I have used the built in charger so many times, it’s been my favorite feature of the suitcases.

Portable charger
Although my carry-on has a built in charger, I still like to travel with my own portable charger for the times when I’m not with my suitcase. I can’t tell you how many times I have relied on chargers to juice me up when out and about, and the best one I’ve found is this one. It can re-charge your phone up to 100% several times before needing a recharge itself. It’s larger and heavier than the other portable chargers I’ve tried, but for someone who works on their phone, and needs a full battery, it’s worth it to me.

Face Serum / Eye Cream
My face always feels so dry when before & after flying so I make sure to have a little bottle of serum and eye cream {been loving this one} on hand to refresh my face should I need it. Another great option for hydration is facial spray!

Other items I usually travel with are below:

Leak proof travel bottles – the best for traveling if you want to bring your own face wash, shampoo and conditioner! TSA-approved and love that they are reusable. Also, their flat shape makes for easy packing.
Socks – I’m always cold, and there is nothing worse then cold ankles!
Eye mask – Always nice to have in case my husband stays up late reading in our hotel room
Large tote bag
Chapstick – In addition to my face feeling dry when flying, my lips can also dry and crack! Always carry a chapstick with me. I also love this one
Good book – This one speaks for itself 🙂
Large Blanket Scarf – to keep my neck warm, and to act as a blanket need be!
Comfortable clothes – Growing up, my parents never let me wear casual clothes when traveling {they had a very old school belief that people should dress elegantly when travelling} so part of that habit still sticks with me. On long haul flights, I usually wear jeans, and then change into workout clothes or pajamas once settled into my seat so I can try and relax more comfortably!
