The Edit: 1 Dress – 2 Ways

When I first saw this dress, I thought it would be perfect for an engagement party or bridal shower, but as soon as I received it I had other plans! The dress was so much cooler than that. I immediately felt like it needed some cool shoes, and a leather jacket to play off the structure of the dress, but also toughen up the femininity of the peplum drop hem. See below for my translation of this 🙂

And to go into the opposite direction {and my original idea of what this dress would look great with} I added some more feminine touches, like the red fringe sandals, a bright red lip and a silver box clutch. I love how this dress transitions to sweet so easily!

Gifts for a New Mom

First of all, let me start by saying that I am SO thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with my sister.  When we first discussed this a few months ago, I felt so grateful to have a sister I wanted to work with, and who wanted to work with me!  We already talk everyday, so why not capture those conversations here on her blog?  I’m so excited to see where this collaboration will take us both.

When thinking about where to start, I thought about myself as a new mom.  While I have three kids, with the arrival of each one I have found myself temporarily caught off guard and off my game – plunged into frequent feedings and sleep deprivation.  Finding small ways to spoil a new mom really goes a long way to improving morale and lifting spirits in those first few blurry weeks until equilibrium is reestablished at the new normal.  While my most favorite new baby gift is a meal delivered to my house, I know that isn’t always practical for everyone (e.g. distance or logistics might get in the way).  Therefore, I have put together some of my most loved and favorite things from those early months as a new mom.

New Mom 4.21.16.001

Clothes
Soft thin robes that are also feminine and delicate (like #1 and #12) are the best!  I wore mine in the hospital and pretty much everyday after!  For moms that choose to breastfeed, nursing nightgowns like (#4 – my favorite, I have in 2 colors, and #7) are amazing.  Belabumbum makes amazing (and pretty) nursing nightgowns.  They are SO cool in the summer (in Northern California I don’t have AC and I roast in the summer).  I also still LIVE in J. Crew pj’s year round – I have probably 4 or 5 pairs.  I love them every way they come (jersey, cotton, flannel), but these hydrangea colored cotton ones (#5)  are my favorite and I often give as gifts to new moms (button down tops are so easy for nighttime nursing).  Aden and Anais makes super thin muslin swaddle blankets (#2) that I use for everything (nursing cover, picnic blanket, stroller shade, etc). Super versatile and come in so many pretty colors.

Beauty
Another great gift is lip balm (#14) – a Chanel lip balm is something decadent that she might not buy herself (Bridget has this and loves it).  The Dior Nail Glow polish (#3) is perfect for a new mom who might not get her nails done as often as she once did – it brings out the natural pink in your nails and isn’t that noticeable when it chips.  I SWEAR by this L’Occitane hand cream (#8).  I wash my hands constantly and this is the only thing that keeps my knuckles from bleeding (they get SO chapped).

Jewelry
I have a Maya Brenner necklace (#6) with the initials of my three kids and I LOVE it!  With each kid you can send the necklace back and they’ll add a letter.  I have also been eyeing these thin little rings to wear myself (#13) – I want to get one in rose, gold, and silver for each of my three babies.

Paper!
If you know me, you know I love paper products of all kinds.  I always have. I’d love to receive these new neon Le Pens (#15) and a gorgeous set of Rifle Paper journals (#9) or this Sugar Paper for Target (#10) notebook to write down notes or baby milestones or whatever.  I also love this Baggu Wildflower pouch (#11) to keep my baby stuff organized in my purse (it would also make a great mother’s day gift). I also have and love a few other things I didn’t have room to include (like this day at a time notebook and a baby book set) if you are looking for more ideas!

Wedding Wednesday // The Most Beautiful White Lace Dress

Dress: Modcloth cordially delighted lace dress c/o // shoes: Flourishing courage heel c/o // earrings: On drop of the world earrings c/o // sunglasses: celine 41050 sunglasses

Seriously, how beautiful is this dress? I can’t get over the incredible detail of the material, and how well made the dress is overall {especially for the price!} This dress is similar to dresses that are going for $700+, and I feel lucky to have found something so beautiful for 1/4 the price! The shape is so lady like and classic, and I especially love the little collar detail.  I wanted to keep the overall look sweet so I paired it with these light turquoise heels and pretty drop earrings.

Modcloth has the most beautiful white dress options in their wedding boutique – I’m seriously eyeing this dress for a shower I have coming up & this dress would be perfect for my bridal luncheon {how good would this be with a flower crown?} Swoon, this dress is super dreamy too! So many options, too little parties!

Thank you so much to Modcloth for partnering with me on this post!

Hi-Lo Chambray Dress – 2 ways!

being-bridget-1372being-bridget-1432being-bridget-1406being-bridget-1532being-bridget-1408being-bridget-1380

felt like dressing this outfit up just a teeny bit by adding some bright white wedges

This dress screams ‘casual’ and it is! It’s great for that – super comfy, lightweight, and I love the hi-lo hem. However, I wasn’t convinced that it couldn’t be dressed up! I love the way it looks with these wedges and I think I couldn’t even gone further by adding some dressier earrings or a red lip. You can’t beat the price tag of $34 – so get on it before it sells out!
