My Favorite Self Tanner

Top: PH5 Jakcob Sweater // Skirt: PH5 Jasmine Miniskirt // Shoes: Christian Louboutin Pigalle Follies { less expensive version here} // Earring: Annie Costello Brown Matisse Earrings {also avail in gold}

I’ve always had fair skin and even those rare moments when I’m in the sun enough to slowly build up a tan, it never lasts longer than a few weeks making all that effort {and potential skin damage] a wash. Thats why I’ve had to rely on sunless tanners over this years and this one by Vita Liberta is by far the best I’ve found for a quick fix. I first used this when I last minuted decided to attend a daytime event wearing a short suit. My legs were so incredibly pale, but thankfully for this tanner I was able to quickly darken my limbs in a very natural looking way. I bought the ‘Latte’ colorway which is the medium hue, and very pretty on. It leaves a nice velvet-y soft finish without being sticky. It’s also extremely to use – simply squeeze some of the product into your hand and spread evenly! Be careful because a little goes a long way! Don’t forget to wash your hands afterwards too.

The NYFW Shoe Trend I’m Loving

I have always loved New York Fashion Week. Growing up in New Orleans in the early 2000s, I was starved for fashion. I so badly wanted to be in New York – to see, and feel and touch all of the beautiful pieces I had never come close to seeing in my hometown. I distinctly remember sitting in my high school biology class, and instead of listening to the teacher, I was on my laptop obsessively pouring over the images from the Marc Jacobs show the night before.

As I grew up, the fashion shows and what walked down the runway still mattered to me. But what began to matter almost as much were the clothes walking down the street. This was on the cusp of social media becoming a thing, and influencers as we know them today didn’t really exist yet. Instead, people like me where just beginning to discover blogs like The Sartorialist which documented the street style of regular people – launching some, like Taylor Tomasi Hill, into a new stratosphere of fashion celebrity. Taylor, then an accessories director at Teen Vogue and then Marie Claire, seemingly shunned the spotlight, but that didn’t keep throngs of photographers snapping her every move {and outfit} during fashion week. At this point, in the mid-2000s, something unexpected began to develop – people’s interest turned from the tents to the streets, solidifying the street style movement. Real people wearing real clothes – what’s better than that?

As for me, I’ve tried my hand at recreating my favorite street style looks over the years, but none have been as fun {or as comfortable!} as the sneaker trend. Between dad sneakers, colorful modern sneakers, and a strong representation of the classics, there is a style that everyone can easily connect to. We all own sneakers, so it also felt the least intimidating! When I decided to finally tackle this trend on my own, I went straight to eBay. They have an incredible selection of sneakers and they made it easy to find a style that I could incorporate into my Fall wardrobe. The {no longer sold} Nike Roshe sneaker in the classic black/white colorway was exactly what I was looking for and with the few clicks of a button and a few days to wait, I got them in the mail. Brand new, with a 30 day return window in case they didn’t fit, purchasing these sneaks could not have been easier. Lucky for me they are perfect and I’m already obsessed {if you’ve been following me on stories over the last few days, you know this!}

Sneakers are meant for the gym, but here we are mixing our sneakers with dresses, skirts or sharply tailored pants. I love breaking rules, and this one especially feels really playful and fun.  We’re redefining the norm, and I think that’s what I like best. Head to eBay to find a plethora of all the too cool and old school sneakers {and everything in between!} and let me know what your favorite NYFW trends are in the comments! I would love to hear 🙂

Best Portable & at Home Clothes Steamer

PurSteam Elite Garment Steamer // URPOWER Portable Handheld Clothes Steamer

There is not a day that goes by that I don’t use one of these two steamers. I fill them up with tap water, flip a switch and within minutes the wrinkles in my clothes are completely gone. It couldn’t be easier! I love the full size for at home steaming {so much better and easier than ironing!} and the travel size is perfect for on the go. I bring it with my on every trip and I’m always so grateful when I’m able to unpack my bag and have wrinkle free items within minutes. Friends and family are always asking to borrow it and vowing to buy their own for their next trip!

The Most Universal Skirt

Top: Vanessa Beard Sanaa Shirt // Skirt: Tory Burch Ellis Skirt // Shoes: Vince Alora Mule // Sunglasses: Celine // Bag: Celine // Necklace: Shashi

Doesn’t this skirt just make you happy? The cut it so slimming and the colors are so vibrant & fun. Here I’ve styled it more for spring + summer {we’re still battling the heat here in Texas} but I know I will wear it with sweaters and bodysuits come colder temperatures. On Wednesday, I paired it with a t-shirt and sneakers for a casual birthday lunch with my girlfriends and it felt so festive. I know this will be one of my most worn purchases of the year {and something I can wear year round!}

PS – My sister was actually the one who told me about this piece! I’m going on the record to say that she had it first! 🙂
