What To Wear On Thanksgiving

Dress: Veronica Beard Emory Dress {on sale!} // Boots: Stuart Weitzman Lowland Boots // Bag: BP Foldover Clutch {only $12!} // Sunglasses: Celine

Thanksgiving is just 2 days away and I’m so ready to relax with family, stuff my face with turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie {my favorites}, and spend the afternoon in front of the fire watching football.  One of the biggest things thats changed since getting married is sharing holidays! I used to spend every holiday with my family, and now I share those holidays with my husband’s family. Alexis {my husband} and I decided to switch off every other year – meaning this year we will do Thanksgiving with his family in Texas, and Christmas with mine in New Orleans. Next year we will flip flop and spend Thanksgiving with mine, and Christmas with his in Switzerland. I feel so lucky that I love spending time with my husband’s family, so it’s not a heavy burden to endure – its the opposite! I actually love sharing holidays – you get the best of both worlds, and get to build on new traditions!

As for what I’m going to wear on Thursday, this look would be perfect. We don’t need to get super dressed up for our lunch, but I also don’t want to show up in jeans either. This dress is the perfect in-between. The plaid makes it feel perfectly fall & these over the knee boots top the look off. If you live in a colder environment, you could easily add tights, booties & a comfy coat to transition this look into colder weather. Overall, an easy + comfortable Thanksgiving outfit!

Best Way to Shop Black Friday Sales Online

Sweater: Gibson convertible Tunic {comes in 8 colors!} // Jeans: AG Legging Jeans // Bag: BP Foldover Clutch {under $15!} // Boots: Old, similar here // Sunglasses: Celine

Cyber week is upon us y’all & that means more sales than you know what to do with! It can be a bit overwhelming {even for me} & with so much going on, I knew I wanted to offer some tips to make shopping the sales as easy as possible! These are my tried & true tips that I use every year, so I know they’ll work for you too.

  1. Make a plan! I like to basically make a to-do list for myself. I first write down every person I want to buy presents for. Next, I make a list of the items I want to buy for myself/my family {aka our home!}  I like to map out what/who I’m buying {for} so when it comes time I don’t forget anyone or anything! This takes 5 minutes and will make such a difference when you start shopping.
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbb For example:
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Emma – Kiehl’s Nighttime serum?
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb John
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Sara – 3 Piece music set
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Erica – Personalized Planner?
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Taylor
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Elise
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Guest Bedroom
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb New headboard?
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Check Ballard for X-bench
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Framebridge for art?
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Pottery Barn curtains – see if they go on sale!
  2. Make a separate list of all your favorite online retailers. Although most retailers will have some sort of promotion going on, not all will have major sales. I like to make a list of every retailer I love and check back on them all weekend to see if they’re sale change. I also like to separate my retailers by department: HOME, FASHION, KIDS, BEAUTY etc so I can stay focused.
    bbbbbbbbbbbbb  For example:
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb HOME
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Mintwood Home
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Mark & Graham
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Wisteria
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb William Sonoma
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb BEAUTY
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Ulta
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Sephora
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb FASHION
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Nordstrom
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Shopbop
    bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb Bloomingdale’s
  3. Last but not least, check back in all weekend with me here & on Instagram – I will be posting all the information on my favorite sales, my top picks, gift guide ideas and so much more.

Oh, and if you’re wondering if this top is as comfortable as it looks, you would be pleased to know that it is! It can be worn off the shoulders {as shown above} or as a cowl neck, and at $55 it is super affordable. My favorite part however is that it is long enough to cover my backside so I could easily wear this look with leggings or leather pants too!

Fall Colors in Texas

Jacket: Old, similar here // Sweater: 360 Helene Sweater // Skirt: Old, exact here & here // Shoes: Christian Louboutin Pigalle Follies {less expensive version here} // Bag: Clare V Clutch // Earrings: Bauble Bar Paris hoop earring  {20% off!}

The trees in Dallas are turning and are looking so incredibly beautiful. This batch is right near my house and every time I pass by it, it almost takes my breath away. There is nothing more refreshing than embracing a new season, and I can finally say that Fall is upon us here in the south. This cranberry + red combo was so much fun to put together. One of my favorite fashion mottos is, when in doubt wear all {insert color here} Whether that means all black, all grey, all red, etc it’s an easy & chic way to look effortless. I also loved adding a pop of leopard to this outfit – I don’t wear leopard much, but when I do, I make it count. Here this leopard clutch really stands out from the cranberry and red and makes a fun & playful {yet chic} statement. Last but not least, I topped off this look with my new favorite earrings from Bauble Bar. They’re funky & fun but still elegant & they’re currently on sale for 20% off! Get the details here {& shop quickly – 25% off all earrings ends tonight!}

My Sephora Sale Picks

If you read my nighttime beauty routine post from last week then you know I am newfound beauty lover and obsessed with all things relating to my skin! Enter in: Sephora. These two things obviously go hand in hand & being new to skin means I’m relatively new to Sephora. This is my first time to experience the Sephora bi-annual sitewide sale and I’m so excited to be scooping up all of my favorite products for 20% off! They have an incredible selection of both beauty and skincare brands as well as things like haircare, styling tools, home, and GIFT SETS! Yes…..just in time for Christmas. I love the gift of a giftset because you get so much for your dollar! The sale ends Wednesday so get to shopping, and let me know your favorites! Mine are below!

Nest Candles – These candles are our favorite home splurge. Two or 3 years ago my husband proclaimed that he loved the way they smelled and I took that and ran with it {protip: when your husband likes something that is on the pricier side, especially a candle, just GO with it!} All kidding aside, we both love these candles and although they are meant for the holiday season, we actually burn ours all year round. They just smell so dang good. When they go on sale, which is never btw, I buy in bulk. Ten Nest candles, come to mama.

SKINCARE

La Mer Moisturizing Cream – Yes….You’re reading this correctly. La Mer, ON SALE! I purchased the classic La Mer moisturizing cream back in July as part of a gift set during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and was honestly, a little underwhelmed. It was super thick, and made my skin feel super weighed down. When I shared this with y’all on my Instagram stories several of you pointed me towards the La Mer moisturizing soft cream – a much lighter version of the classic. Many people also pointed out that I was trying to use the classic cream during the summer, and that it was best for hydration during the winter when our skin is typically much more dry. Since I didn’t know there were multiple creams available, and therefore had no clue I was buying the heavy stuff, I was stuck with the much heavier, less preferred version. A great, albeit slightly messier,  workaround was dropping 1-2 drops of my serum into the cream and then rubbing it into my skin. This definitely helped for the summer use, and I’m excited to give the cream another go this winter. Other La Mer favorites on sale: The La Mer micellar water, and eye cream {I use this every night and find it so light yet soothing!}

Kiehl’s Mignight Recovery Serum – Also buying the daytime serum. This serum was the first boujee item I ever bought when branching out from my drugstore buys and I LOVE it. Still one of the best beauty buys I have ever made. It’s also one of the only items I’ve ever used every last drop of. At $46 it doesn’t break the bank, but with 20% off it is downright a steal. Also, let me just say that I’ve bought the most high end of serums {hello Vitner’s Daughter} and I still prefer the Kiehl’s {hence why I’m buying the nightime and daytime serums during this sale}. This product has a really light, subtle scent and absorbs really well into the skin without leaving it greasy.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence – This product has been referred to as ‘miracle water’ and I know why. After using for several weeks, my skin became so soft and so smooth that even my husband noticed. I was so taken aback that I actually stopped using the product for a few months because I didn’t know what to think – but with all my recent traveling and skin changes, I’m back and have never been happier. Not only does this product make your skin insanely soft, but it reduces redness evens out your skin tone {if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know I talk about dealing with both of those issues often!} The main ingredient in the essence is Pitera and often referred to as ‘youth in a bottle.’ Read more about that ingredient here. To apply, I pour a few drops into the palm of my hand and gently pat it into my skin. Obsessed!

Kate Sommerville DermalQuench Liquid Lift – I had heard incredible things about Kate Sommerville products and after doing tons of research I narrowed down all my favorites and decided to try the DermalQuench Liquid Lift. I go into detail here about why I love it but basically homegirl {me} is getting older and fine lines and wrinkles are forming in places I don’t want! I shake this little can and ice cold product comes out which just feels so cool and refreshing. Instead of putting this all over my face, like I do with most of my products, I just apply to problem areas {crows feet, smile lines, and neck} saving myself from wasting product. It doesn’t have a scent and absorbs right into the skin light water would.

Other favorites: SK-II Facial Treatment masks {I like to keep mine in the refridgerator!}, Philosophy Purity Cleanser,  & Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar

MAKE UP

Tom Ford ‘Boy’ Lipsticks – these mini lipsticks are my obsession. I bought them last Christmas when the lady at Neimans told me they were a limited collection {HA! So much for that?} but I’ve loved them ever since. They’re tiny, so they fit into any clutch or bag I take when going out, and I love that about them. Too often I had to leave my lipstick behind when it didn’t fit into my clutch, and now I don’t have to worry! I know you get a lot less product than the original size, but since I’m not a huge lipstick wearer this doesn’t bother me – plus they’re half the cost of the original! At $26, you can buy 2 for the price of 1 original and give your mom, sister or girlfriends a Christmas gift they wouldn’t forget! Who doesn’t want a little Tom Ford in their life?! The two colors I have and love are COLLIN & MITCHELL.

Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Stick – I swear by these little caviar eye sticks. I am horrible when it comes to doing my own make up – especially the eyeshadow part. Blending and shading is so overwhelming and I usually end up just making a huge mess, and have to take all my make up off and start over {does this happen to anyone else?!} Enter in the caviar sticks. These little bad boys are the best. They make eye shadow fool proof, and even I can look like an expert. They’re super pigmented and have a nice, but not sticky, texture to them. I love all the shimmer colorways {often times I mix a few} but my best friend just bought the black to use as a smudge liner and I think thats a genius idea so I’m going to do that too.

Urban Decay Naked Palette – Just like the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Serum, this Urban Decay Naked Palette was the first real make up item I bought when trying to learn about beauty products. The original palette was so successful for Urban Decay they have since come out with multiple other versions of the palettes, but I still own the first one. With that being said, I think Naked3 is so, so pretty and am very tempted by the 20% off price tag….

Other favorites on sale: Laura Mercier Loose Powder, Goof Proof Brow pencil from Benefit, Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Mascara

HAIR

Bumble & Bumble Invisible Heat Protectant Oil – I try to limit the amount of heat I put on my hair, but even with the amount I do do, I rely on this protectant oil. It’s lightweight and doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it dull looking. If anything it does just the opposite – it makes it soft and shiny and healthy looking and I honestly hate the way my hair looks & feels without it. Hence why I just bought the mini version of this stuff so I could travel with it, and never have to go a day without!

Dyson Hair Dryer – I have wanted one of these Dyson hair dryers for forever but they never go on sale, and I just couldn’t bring myself to spend the $400. Also, if you’ve never tried something, you don’t know what you’re missing, right? Well that was my motto until I stayed at a Hotel in London last Christmas {Hi Claridges, I love you!} and they had them in our hotel rooms {they also had Burberry trenches hanging in our closets for us to borrow but that is another story} Anyway, I used it everyday I was at the hotel and the dang dryer has been haunting me ever since. At over $80 off, and with $90 of free products from Ouai included, I am convinced there is no time like the present to treat yo’self! A head of dry hair in under 2 minutes? My life will never be the same!

GIFT SETS – Sephora has graciously separated out all the different gift sets and put them into different categories {because who has time to sort through 800+ of them?!} Gifts for Her, Gifts under $25, Mini Sized Gifts {love this one!}, Value Sets…..the list goes on! See all the categories here, and get to shopping! These make the best gifts – I always stock up and give them to friends, coworkers, & Kris Kringles!

Last but not least, there are a few products I’m buying that I’ve never bought before and I couldn’t be more excited to give them a go! Have you tried any of these? I’ve done my homework, and all three have incredible reviews. Plus, so many of my friends swear by them. Can’t wait to see for myself!

Want to try: Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask, Drunk Elephant Baby Facial {this just won best of Allure Magazine’s beauty award this year}, & the YSL Touche Eclat Highlighting Pen

Don’t forget – to get the discounts you must use these codes: 20FORVIB for 20% off & INSIDER15 for 15% off! Happy shopping and don’t forget to let me know what you score! xx
