My Dallas Beauty Go-Tos

H A I R
Brittany @ Salon 5014 // Call to book an appointment 214 – 832 – 3600 or 512 – 689 – 3333 (cell) // Instagram here

Before Brittany I bounced around from salon to salon, trying out everyone from Hair x Charlie to Aveda. After suffering through a horrible chop at a salon I won’t name, and complaining about it at work, several of my coworkers urged me to give Brittany a try. They all have beautiful hair, and one of my friends, Ali, who went to Brittany even had dark brown hair like mine, so I thought why not {you can only go up from the bottom!} Well, fast forward 3 years, and I am still with Brittany and have been so happy with how she’s transformed my hair. She is great because she’s always realistic with me, but still understands my vision {& expectations} and manages that really well. She doesn’t try to over sell me on products, convince me into/or out crazy cuts or colors, and more just lets me come to decisions on my own. She took me from a boring, mousy brown to a beautiful ombre honey color that I’m obsessed with!  Also, if you’re a blonde, do not fret – Brittany also does blonde beautifully {see one of my other friends who goes to Brittany here!} If you’re new to her, you can also text her photos of what you want and she can do a quick consultation by phone! This was, and still is, one of my favorite things about working with Brittany – I can text her anytime I have a question or need to book an appointment! Last by not least, her prices are super reasonable, and beyond that she’s just a cool, sweet person who is easy to talk too. Price – depends on what you want! My total is always under $200 for wash/cut/color/style

Michelle @ Venetian Nail Spa // Call to book an appointment 469-804-4005

I found Michelle back when I was working in Travis Walk Center and Riviera Spa was on the first floor {4+ years ago}. They offered a 20% Friends & Family discount to anyone who worked in the building and with my weekly manicure habit {I’m a recovering nail biter} a 20% discount helped a lot with that weekly expense! At first, I would schedule a manicure with whoever was available {usually on my lunch break} but I pretty quickly realized that Michelle’s manicures were lasting 2x as long as anyone else’s.  With a weekly manicure habit {this is probably my biggest beauty indulgence btw!} I have been to countless salons across the DFW metroplex, and Michelle is *by far* the best. When Riviera recently dismantled their nail offerings, and Michelle moved, I followed her. Even without the 20% discount, I am loyal to her because she TRULY is the best. Her attention to detail is incredible and the manicures easily last 2 weeks {without the discount, I now stretch them to two weeks all the time and they still look great!} Regular manicure: $17

Morgan @ Benefit // Call to book an appointment 214 – 764 – 8380

I’ve always had difficult brows – they’re patchy, unruly and uneven, and honestly, I’ve always felt lost at how to deal with them. I look at old pictures of me from college and cringe at how bad they look – I’ve overplucked, underplucked, and made the patchiness worse by trying to shape them myself. Only when I discovered brow pencils did I finally start to leave them alone and let a professional handle the shaping. With that being said, I would just pop into any ole nail salon or waxing studio and never commit to just one person {because honestly, I didn’t feel like they were doing anything different than anyone else}. That is, until I met Morgan at Benefit Cosmetics in Preston Center. I just happened to be in the area when I realized Benefit offered brow waxes. Morgan was on hand and available for a quick wax and I thought nothing of it – again, I thought it would just be a regular ole wax. However, that night I went to a dinner with my girlfriends and atleast 4 of them {separately} asked me about my eyebrows – “have you done something different with your eyebrows?” “who does your eyebrows?” “what do you use to shape and fill in your eyebrows?” – I was so thrown off. When I got home, and took the second to look in the mirror, I realized they were right. My brows did look so much different – in the best possible way! Morgan had finally shaped them in a way that made sense for my face, and for my hair type. I can’t tell you what she did differently because I’m not the pro, but whatever she did worked, and I was hooked! A few weeks later I called in to schedule an appointment for a brow wax at Benefit and got someone else {I didn’t know Morgan’s name at the time} and the shaping & style of my brows was *not* the same. Ever since, I have been adamant about booking with *just* Morgan because really, it’s not worth the money to go to anyone else! Now every time I go in, Morgan gives me an update on certain hairs she’s growing back, and shows me the shaping technique she uses. If you meet with Morgan, she will tell you that she’s obsessed with brows – she stalks the well known brow queens of Instagram like I stalk the stylish editors of Vogue, or a designer I love. So you know you’re in great hands – she really knows what she’s talking about, and she’s passionate about brows to boot!  Another great thing about getting a wax at Benefit is that after the wax, their make up artist will sit you down and re-fill in your brows and cover up the redness on your face {if you want them too!} so you aren’t walking around afterwards looking like a crazy person ??  Brow wax – $21

Whitney @ Gloww // Text or Email to book glowwtan@gmail.com or 847 – 971 – 0409

Again, I found out about Whitney from my old coworkers. We had a big work conference coming up and a few of the girls were talking about getting a spray tan. I’m naturally super pale, but hadn’t thought to book a tan so I didn’t have an appointment and was running out of time. I decided last minute to tag along with my friend to her appointment just to see if Whitney could squeeze me in, and lucky for me, she could! The tan was so natural looking and loved that I could shower 3 hours after getting it done – depending on how dark you want to be, you wash the spray off between 2-4 hours. I used to hate how long I’d have to feel sticky and gross after other sprays, so this was an amazing improvement! Whitney is also super sweet & normal, and has the cutest little puppy that I love seeing every time I go. By far the best & most natural looking spray tan in Dallas. Price – $40

Rebecca @ Joanna Czech // Call to book an appointment 214 – 812 – 9488 // Instagram here

I had heard so much about Joanna and her facials at her spa in Dallas, but hesitated because of the price {her facials start at $550!} But when my skin started acting crazy  about 8 months ago {bright red spots on my skin, super dry spots, fine lines, etc} and nothing I was buying & trying was working, I decided it was time to talk to a professional. What I loved about my facial at Joanna Czech was how educational it was. I felt like I was talking to someone who really knew what they were talking about, and who finally gave me some solid advice for taking care of my skin. Rebecca, my facialist, told me from the get-go that the facial wouldn’t necessarily be as relaxing as other facials I might have had in the past – she needed to talk to me to get an understanding of my skincare routine, my skin history, and what products I was currently using. She also talked to me about my skin as she worked on it – what she saw, the current state of my skin and so much more. The best part was that Rebecca also prescribed certain products, and educated me on the order in which I should use them, that I could buy at the end of the session. I know what you’re thinking, and although some of the products they recommend are expensive, my favorite item that I walked out with was under $50! They really care about the skin, and they’re so, so knowledgeable about it. I definitely plan on making this a 2x a year treat I give to myself. Price – Rebecca starts at $220

Hermes Samurai Scarf Giveaway

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I’ve been teasing this giveaway for a while, and I’m so excited to finally be kicking things off today by giving one of you an Hermes scarf! The Parures de Samouraïs from Hermes was inspired by a privately owned collection of Samurai art based here in Dallas. The Ann & Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Samurai collection is the largest collection of it’s kind outside of Japan, and my sister-in-law is lucky enough to work with the collection. She was very hands on when it came to the pieces selected for the design on the scarf, and because we do everything together, I felt like I really got to experience the collaboration firsthand. Therefore, these scarves hold such a special place in my heart.

When the collection hit stores earlier this year, I was so excited to see 5 years of work come to life, and of course I had to share them with you all. Every time I featured the scarves on my Instagram {see example here}, the response was always so positive & excited, and it dawned on me that I could host a little giveaway {my first ever!} to share a piece of this collaboration with you all! See below on giveaway details, and follow along this week as I reveal more ways to enter!

HOW TO ENTER:

  • Follow me on Instagram!
  • Tag 3 friends in this photo

And that’s it! Super simple. The winner will be selected randomly and announced next Sunday 10/22!  There are 12 different colorways and the winner of this giveaway will get to pick the scarf color of their choice {pending availability from Hermes} I seriously can’t wait for one of you to get your hands on this beautiful scarf!

Cozy in Cream

Sweater: Treasure & Bond // Scarf: Knotted Tassle Scarf // Jeans: Old similar here // Shoes: Minnetonka // Bag: Celine // Sunglasses: Celine

Heading to the State Fair of Texas this morning with my niece and I’d be lying if I said I was super exited about it. I didn’t grow up going to fairs, and I’m not into fried foods or scary rides, so if it wasn’t for my adorable niece who I can’t resist, I probably wouldn’t go at all! I’m the worst Texan, but thats ok because I’m really a New Orleans girl through and through 🙂

This oversized light cream sweater is so much better than I thought it would be. The color is PERFECT and it is a very cozy knit without being too hott or heavy. It’s part of the Something Navy x Treasure & Bond collaboration that Nordstrom did and I’m very tempted to get a few of the other colors! The sweater pairs perfectly with these little tan moccasins {under $50} which I’m obsessed with. I’ve had the black version for years now, and I’m so glad to be adding these bad boys to my collection. They match everything & are so comfortable. If tan isn’t your thing – don’t fret – they come in 8 colors!

Happy Friday y’all!

Suede Drape Jacket

Jacket: BB Dakota Suede Drape Jacket {also here} // Tank: Cami NYC lace tank // Jeans: Mott & Bow // Sunglasses: Celine // Shoes: Christian Louboutin {less expensive version here!} // Bag: Sole Society Clutch

Happy Monday friends! I’m fresh off a weekend at home in New Orleans celebrating one of my best friends weddings. Even though the weekend was so much fun & such a success, there were moments when we were all worried it might not be! Hurricane Nate barreling towards the gulf coast so late in the year was unusual – since when are there hurricanes in November?! – but eve though we were all crazy with nerves about potential flooding, road closings, and city wide curfews, the storm ended up passing us all together and we were able to party and celebrate the bride & groom to all hours of the night with barely any rain at all! I always have so much fun at home in New Orleans, but especially so when all my old friends are back together in the same place and celebrating two people we all love so much!

As for this look, this faux suede jacket is even dreamier in person. I scored it during the Shopbop sale when it was under $80, and although that sale has ended, the Friends & Family sale over at Bloomingdale’s is still going strong, and the jacket is fully in stock in 3 colors for $79! The suede feels so luxe and the drape is perfectly slouchy, and I know this will be a layer I wear time and time again this fall & winter. I love the black version so much, I’m tempted by the gorgeous tan color. I’ve paired it here with my favorite blue jeans & silk tank. An easy look for a date night, or switch the Louboutins for little black flats and this look easily transitions into day!
