My Nighttime Beauty Routine

After a long day, one of my favorite things to do is take my make up off and apply my nighttime products. They’re so soothing, and hydrating, and they just make my face feel so dang good before I get into bed. Over the last year or so, my skin has changed a lot and I’ve had to try to keep up with that change by researching and trying new products. I am by no means an expert, but I’ve learned a lot and have discovered a few favorites along the way that I thought I’d share with all of you. My top products, and the order in which I apply them, are below!

Bioderma Cleansing Micellar Water
To begin my routine, I squeeze a little of the Bioderma cleansing water onto a super soft cotton pad & gently wipe it all over my face & neck. This not only removes makeup, but also helps lift impurities like dirt & oil that have gathered throughout the day. The cleansing water absorbs into my skin leaving it clean and fresh feeling, without any sort of sticky wetness. I love that I don’t feel like I need to rinse my face afterwards. Side note: I used to use make up remover wipes, but found them to be a little too harsh on my skin – I much prefer the soft method of the gentle cleansing water & cotton pad.

Lotion P50W from Biologique Recherche 5.1 FL oz {Gentle exfoliating and purifying lotion for the face}
I learned about Biologique Recherche from my facialist at Joanna Czech. She used a number of products on my face that day {from several different brands} and said that if I were only going to buy one product at the end of our visit, she would recommend this one. It acts as an exfoliator and toner all in one, and when I mentioned it on my Instagram story, I felt like I had entered into a secret society – the amount of people who messaged me back saying this product had changed their life was in the hundreds and if I wasn’t convinced enough then, I am now. My skin looks and feels amazing, and I no longer feel the need to exfoliate with a scrubbing cleanser every night in the shower {something I knew was bad for me, but couldn’t stop beforehand!} Just like the step before this one, this toner is applied to a cotton pad and wiped all over the face, neck and décolletage. I let the toner sink in for 30 seconds before I follow with the accompanying  facial mist.

L’eauxygenante Phase D’Initialisation 1.7 FL oz {Multifunctional treatment mist for the face}
My facialist at Joanna Czech also recommended this facial mist to set the toner {it wasn’t crazy expensive, so I thought I would give it a try – I believe it was $20} It feels exactly like misting any other rose water or herbal spray over your face, and per her instructions, I give it 2-3 sprays across my face & neck. Sometimes I pat this into my skin to speed up the soaking in process, and sometimes I give it a few minutes. To be totally honest, I’m not totally sure what it does, but my facialist said it goes hand-in-hand with the step above so I do it. I figure a little extra hydration can’t hurt!

Kate Sommerville DermalQuench Liquid Lift
I started noticing fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes and mouth about 6 months ago {is this what getting old is like?!} so I set out to find a good at-home solution. I had heard great things about Kate Sommerville products, and after doing some research and reading the 100+ reviews on this DermalQuench Liquid Lift here, I decided to give it a try. The product comes out of the can ice cold and causing a slight tingly feeling once it hits the skin I love that it does this! It feels so refreshing and cool, and cold liquid on the skin is actually really good for it. A tip my facialist gave me {which seems so obvious in retrospect} was to only use the product in areas of need {vs. slathering it all over my face!}  I now only apply the liquid lift on areas that require it – my neck, eyes and mouth – stretching the product out to have a longer lifespan! Although I haven’t noticed major results yet, I do feel as if my skin is softer, and less dry in the specific areas where I’m using the product.

Dr. Barbara Sturm Calming Serum
One of the main reasons I went into Joanna Czech for a facial was to get some guidance {& hopefully a product} that could help me deal with redness I was dealing with in my skin. As I mentioned earlier, my skin has changed quite a bit over the last year, and with that has come some blotchiness in my skin. Without eliminating everything from my diet, I wanted to see if there was a product I could apply that would help combat that redness for me. Enter in Dr. Barbara Sturm’s calming serum. This product is milky deliciousness, and one of the most indulgent purchases in my life to date. It’s wildly expensive, but again I only apply in the areas where the redness is occurring, and let me tell you what – I have already seen huge improvements in the balance of my skin tone and redness. If I could rock this product to sleep at night and sing it a lullaby I would – it’s that good. I am now a full blown Dr. Sturm addict {just bought this!}, and have my eye on a few other products of hers. Will definitely keep you posted…must save my pennies first!

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
This product has been referred to as ‘miracle water’ and I know why. After using for several weeks, my skin became so soft and so smooth that even my husband noticed. I was so taken aback that I actually stopped using the product for a few months because I didn’t know what to think – but with all my recent traveling and skin changes, I’m back and have never been happier. Not only does this product make your skin insanely soft, but it reduces redness evens out your skin tone {if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know I talk about dealing with both of those issues often!} The main ingredient in the essence is Pitera and often referred to as ‘youth in a bottle.’ Read more about that ingredient here. To apply, I pour a few drops into the palm of my hand and gently pat it into my skin.

Vitner’s Daughter {also here}
This product is the IT product on the beauty market right now and has everyone talking. Everyone from Into The Gloss to The Cut is raving about its miracle benefits and all natural ingredients so I just knew it was a matter of time before I gave in. After dropping some serious $$$ {the most money I’d ever spent on a single beauty product at that point},  I was excited to see what all the fuss was about. Looking in the mirror after that first night, I was a little disappointed. Where was the ‘glow’ that so many had sworn would appear? Unfortunately, I saw the same old Bridget with the same old issues, and I had nothing to show for it except a dent in my pocket and a husband who said I smelled like his grandmother. To backtrack, the serum is thick – it has a consistency reminiscent of olive oil and it does carry a very heavy floral fragrance so my husband wasn’t wrong. But with that being said, I have continued to use the product because, well, it was crazy expensive and because it’s kind of grown on me. No, it still hasn’t changed my life, but the smell nor the weird consistency bother me as much as when I first started using the product, and it does make my face feel nice & hydrated in the morning.  Will I buy it again? I’m not sure – Maybe. But if I don’t I can always go back to my tried & true fav {and much cheaper} Kieh’s Midnight Recovery Serum.

La Mer The Eye Concentrate
Eye cream is one of the most important things you can use on your face. The skin around your eyes is extremely delicate and needs as much love and attention as it can get. Starting to use an eye cream at a young age is the best thing you can do as it  prevents fine lines and wrinkles from forming, & also helps keep your eyes looking bright and awake while reducing dark circles and puffiness. I started using the La Mer Eye Concentrate a few months ago and haven’t looked back since. A little goes a long way and I’ve barely made a dent in my supply. The gel-like consistency glides on really easily, and doesn’t weigh down my lids leaving them feeling refreshed and moisturized.

Charlotte TIlbury Magic Cream {also love: Philosophy’s Overnight Recharging & Refining Hope In A Jar}

If you haven’t noticed, I’m applying my products from lightest, to heaviest, ending with my face cream. I like to use a slightly heavier option at night, and my current favorite is Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream. Although heavier than my favorite daily moisturizer, it still goes on so light & absorbs really nicely into the skin. I can’t get enough of the silky and smooth consistency and I also love the soft smell. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy and overall feels extremely luxurious on the skin.

RevitaLash Eyelash Serum
Last but not least is my eyelash serum. This may be my #1 beauty secret, as it is what lays behind my super long lashes. I swipe a quick layer over the base of each eyelash and go to sleep to let the serum work its magic. Within 2-3 weeks of consistent use, you will definitely notice your lashes looking longer and fuller. I can’t tell you how many times people stop me to ask me about my lashes and it is all thanks to this serum!

Add Ons {things I use when I have extra time!}
Erno Laszlo Vitamin C Face Mask – Vitamin C is so good for the face, and I’m obsessed with this mask from Erno Laszlo. Great for leaving the face bright and fresh feeling
SK-II Sheet Mask {single // set of 6} – The most luxurious mask. I love to keep mine in the refrigerator!
Philosophy ‘Purity’ one-step facial cleanser – The most gentle cleanser! I love all philosophy products

My next must-have purchases {dying to try these!}
Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Serum – Have heard incredible things about this serum – most beauty bloggers & experts say it is a must!
Dr. Barbara Sturm Skin Food – Not sure if this is a total scam, but I’m intrigued {and as you know, I’m obsessed with all things Dr. Sturm!}
Dr. Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum – Have heard great things
Tata Harper Moisturizing Mask– Have heard great things

Oversized Sweater Dress

Dress: Free People Sweater Dress // Boots: Dolce Vita Celine Boot // Bag: Celine

Believe it or not, this dress is shown online as a top {!?} but unless you’re taller than me {which most people aren’t – I’m 5’10!} I’m not sure who on earth this would be a top for. It would take the meaning of ‘oversized to another level! Lucky for us though, it makes a pretty great dress, and I love how the slouchy look translates. It’s the prettiest soft white color & I love it here paired with other soft neutrals, like these boots which I’m obsessed with. The stacked heel makes them crazy comfortable, and they come in 2 other equally wearable colors. Oh! And before I forget – you definitely need a slip to wear underneath this dress as it is slightly see through {I love this one.}

On another note, I can’t believe tomorrow is Halloween! Where did the last year go!? Last year on  Halloween and husband and I were on the last leg of our honeymoon in Sumba at the Nihiwatu resort. The sweet staff made everyone crowns, grass skirts and birds of paradise necklaces so we could participate in the festivities even though none of us had any real costumes! It was such a cool way to dress up, and made us feel more connected to the locals, who were all so kind to us. Nihiwatu was both my husband and I’s favorite stop on our Honeymoon and we would both go back {& reccomend it!} in a heartbeat! It was recently voted, for the second year in a row, the best hotel in the world! Read more about it here  or here <3

Best Faux Leather Leggings

Sweater: Halogen tie bell sweater // Leggings: Spanx Faux Leather Leggings // Boots: Stuart Weitzman Lowland Boots // Clutch: Foldover Clutch {on sale for under $15!} // Sunglasses: Celine

These faux leather leggings are some of the best out there, and its no surprise they’re made by Spanx. Spanx is known for hugging your body in all the right ways and places and these leggings are no different. When I tell you I was one of the last women I knew who didn’t own these, I’m not kidding. My friends all swear by them. The high banded waist and the legging like feel makes them so incredibly comfortable, and the slight sheen to the fabric gives off that leather look {for under $100!} I loved styling them here with an oversized sweater and my favorite over the knee boots. This combo can be reworn & worn a million different ways this winter, and I’m so glad I’ve finally joined the Spanx legging club!

My Taelor Fisher Commission

I started following Taelor Fisher on Instagram earlier this year and was so excited when she reached out about a possible commission. I had just returned home from living Europe after months away, and my walls were looking little sad {no surprise that my husband hadn’t done any decorating while I was gone! Although that’s probably a good thing ;)} When Taelor came over, she walked my house with me, and we both decided that this big, empty wall in my front hall would be perfect for one of her paintings. Taelor came prepared with a tape measure and blue painters tape {I’m a super visual person!} and helped me decide on what size would be best for the wall. The best part? The size I wanted wasn’t available in a pre-made canvas, but Taelor said she could custom make any size canvas I want #nowthatsservice! After discussing with Taelor the style & colors I had in mind {inspired by the work she did a few years back!}, Taelor left with a promise that in a few days I would have two separate, smaller paintings {done on computer paper} to address any edits I had for her interpretation of my idea before she went to the big canvas. How great of an idea is that?!

I immediately fell in love with option #2 and didn’t feel like it needed any edits, so Taelor got to work! After about 2 weeks, Taelor let me know that the painting was ready and I couldn’t wait to see! She was so sweet to bring it over and I was blown away. The painting was even better than I could have imagined and looked absolutely perfect in our front hallway. All that was missing was a frame, and Taelor was so sweet to offer to bring it to the framer herself and then proceeded to text me with different frame options {who does that!?} All in all, working with Taelor was a dream, and I would happily do it again in a heartbeat. She’s so sweet, easy to work with talented, so if you’d like to learn more about her commissions, do so here!
